Woodart is not work.

Why Carvingkunst exists

I'm Dirk, and I'm not a carver myself.

Since 2016 I have been travelling to trade fairs and events with products for chainsaws: to timber sports athletes, forestry worker championships and chainsaw artists. Twice my employer and I organised a day on which all three competitions ran at the same time. All three worlds fascinated me from the very beginning, and everywhere I met great people: open, warm-hearted and always up for a chat. Many friendships and contacts came out of it.

Only one thing was missing for the artists: a shared place online where you can find their work, contact them or learn from them. So I built it. Programming has always been my hobby. For carvers, Carvingkunst is and will remain free – as a thank-you for many good encounters.

For years I have spent time with timber sports athletes, forestry workers and chainsaw artists, and many friendships came out of it. The artists were missing a shared place online. So I built it. For carvers, Carvingkunst is and will remain free – as a thank-you for many good encounters.

Frequently Asked Questions about Carvingkunst

Carvingkunst (also chainsaw art or motor saw art) is a form of wood sculpting in which figures, sculptures and reliefs are carved directly from a wooden log using a chainsaw. Fine details are added with rotary tools, chisels and a torch.

Yes. The platform is completely free — both for carvers who showcase their works, courses and events, and for chainsaw art fans who discover works or commission a carver directly. No commissions, no hidden fees.

Use the carver search to filter artists by location, radius and country — across 39 European countries. The map shows carvers in your region, and you can contact them directly without any middleman fees.
